Whachudoooin'? Auditioning for Jim Rome's "Jungle"?
Why ain't Barry being "invited" to the party? Rep. Jim Davis, R-VA sez they don't want it becoming the Barry Bonds Show. What they really mean is that they're pre-empting another one of Barry's hour-long diatribes. Hell, Barry might sight a "Good Times" episode, or something from "What's Happenin'?"
What I really think the deal is tha they are afraid of providing a forum for a bright, outspoken and opinionated black man. Take a look at the roster and check out who they're inviting. . . Curt Schilling, a shill for "W" hisself during the 2004 Campaign. You got Rafael Palmeiero, another friend and former employer of "W." He'also a Cuban expatriate, from Miami, and, by definition down with the Republican Party.
The rest of them are knuckleheads and mental midgets. Giambi -- now there's a real rocket scientist for you right there. Frank Thomas? Now, I am a real "Big Hurt" fan but let's be real here. If you look up the term "hoof and mouth disease" in an encyclopedia, you'll find a picture of Big Frank with his size 14 Nike shoved up his pie-hole. And Sammy So-so? His testimony will be nothing more than a Latinized Steppin Fetchit' act. And they are only including Maguire in the mix to make it look like they're singling out the players of color, as our man Jose has aptly pointed out about this mess in the first place. Sure he's selling books, but he has a point nontheless.
Here are a couple of opinion pieces with a take on Mr. Davis' St. Patrick's Day get-together on Capitol Hill:
The first,by Washinton Post baseball columnist Thomas Boswell, asks the question: "What's the big rush" and "Why now?"

The second, by Jason Whitlock of the Kansas City Star and the Page 2 Section of ESPN.com provides one explanation for the timing of these hearings:
